A chilling novel based on true life experiences that will provoke more than just thought...

In the context of modern society it is possible to imagine scenarios which would seem improbable if not impossible in the past. What if... your whole life, the things you thought you knew and felt comfortable with, turned out to be something else entirely... The already familiar themes of a corrupt government become very clear as the truth is exposed. This novel delivers everything from a stiff drink to secret government experiments... your eyes will open more and more with each page you turn. Let's take a journey in the mind of one Les Roberts conveyed through his riveting and thrilling novel "The Poison Plum".

The novel begins in Tuskegee, Alabama in 1946 with experiments involving African Americans being used as test subjects to observe the effects of untreated Syphilis infections. In these experiments (conducted by the United States Government) 399 African American men were told they had "bad blood" and were given placebos as treatment for this serious, yet easily curable disease. As it is stated in documents found on the web, there were no intentions on actually providing the well known and easily obtainable penicillin that is used to successfully treat Syphilis and that these men were to be used as test subjects until they died from this disease. There are many documents available regarding this specific experiment. You are urged to do your own research.

Moving quickly forward to modern day New London, Connecticut, appears Colonel Gordon McClain, an American military hero, himself a victim of an evil government conspiracy, who takes matters into his own hands to try to draw attention to that conspiracy.

The novel's protagonist, Susan Collins, a single mom with a beautiful and healthy 8 year old son, accepts a position with a top-secret US Government biological research Laboratory after graduation from UAB in Birmingham. Susan's child, Toby, suddenly becomes sick with a mysterious bug that is misdiagnosed as a psychological issue. They go to several doctors, all of which tell a slightly different story as to what the problem "could be". Could it simply be a case of stress that is causing little Toby to be sick or could it be a genetically engineered bug designed to be impervious to traditionally accepted protocols of diagnosis and treatment?

Congressman Harry McDonald, a courageous and dedicated crusader for freedom, leads the battle for exposure of the government's evil schemes. The sudden and mysterious incarceration by the government of six infectious disease doctors arouses the ire and curiousity of this patriotic congressman. In his pursuit to reveal the whereabouts of the doctors, he finds that at every turn he is stonewalled by the various government agencies involved. He does it not alone but with the assistance of his dedicated and beautiful assistant Erin Giblon.

As the congressman continues his quest for truth and justice, an unexpected ally appears in the personage of MacIntosh McAdams, a crusading member of a dying breed of journalists willing to seek the truth and hold the guilty parties responsible and accountable at all costs.

As the story unfolds, you'll be brought to a moment in your life where you finally attain some clarity regarding many questions you've held along the way. You'll see that much of the pain and despair in our lives is not solely because of bad decisions that we've made or others have made, but that it is created by the ones who seem to have all the answers before we do. The ones that hide under a cloak of confusing and garbled lawyer speak. The ones who push the papers, dictating the living conditions of each and every person within its reach.

Join Susan and the Congressman as they take on the corrupt health care, national security and financial systems. Their journey reveals how the many layers of a failing system are secretly covering their own tracks, even from each other! You'll see how well the system works within the system to keep you from knowing what's really going on. Their very lives are challenged and they courageously battle the forces of darkness to get to their prized pot of truth at the end of this chemtrail rainbow.

About the Author

This is Georgia born Les Roberts’ first and perhaps only novel. It was inspired by a true life experience with a bizarre and mysterious disease which remained un-diagnosed for ten years, almost claiming the life of the author. Les felt led after self (correct) diagnosis and professional treatment to put a human face to an epidemic now sweeping across America. Blessed, or perhaps cursed, from young adulthood with a fertile and vivid imagination enhanced by recurring episodes of precognitive dreams and apocalyptic visions, the idea and basic plot for this novel was revealed to Les in a space of only five minutes. Resisting the urgings and later proddings from the Almighty for a period of time, Les finally relented, grabbed a legal pad and began writing. The result is now before you.
