The Hypnotic and Addictve Pleasures of Television... The More Television You Watch... The More You Have to Watch... By Design!

When anyone watches television they are subjected to pulsations of radiant light which puts them in the same state of "suggestion" attained by hypnotists and hypno-therapists on their subjects or patients. This is not a "conspiracy theory". This has been tested scientifically.
Within as little as 30 seconds of television watching the average person's brain is reduced to a steady state where it produces only low alpha wave readings on an EEG machine.
In one experiment children were attached to EEG machines and the televisions were set to shut off as soon as low alpha waves were attained. Even though they were told to concentrate as much as possible, very few of them could keep the television on for more than 30 seconds.
This law alpha wave state is the same state used by hypnotists during performances or by hypno-therapists to help people stop smoking or overeating or otherwise to alter destructive habits.
It is a state where consciousness shuts down almost completely and is simply sidestepped, so that any suggestions enter directly into the subconscious.
The subconscious then silently and secretly directs conscious activities in accordance with the suggestions. In the proper state of hypnotic suggestion, as any professional hypnotist will tell you, both verbal and visual suggestions are accepted more as commands than suggestions.
This state was originally a result of the flicker rates in analog television due to the cathode ray technology used. With the recent conversion to digital television one would think this effect could be reduced or avoided altogether.
In actual fact this conversion to digital allows a more precise control of flicker rates and the refinement of the hypnotic effect.
Too much television and the low alpha brain wave state becomes more or less permanent, resulting in highly suggestive, very low-consciousness virtual zombies stumbling about on the streets and in the shopping malls like a scene out of the old '80's horror flick Dawn of the Dead.
Nor is it only corporations selling product who take advantage of this zombie effect for their own bottom line.
The Fox corporation has admitted to intentionally implanting the idea of global warming and the idea of reducing one's personal "carbon footprint" into the minds of Americans.
Now the carbon footprint, an absolute nonsense phrase, is on everyone's lips, and a fantasy object comparable to a Leprechaun has been invented and invested with life.
Fox, the other networks and quasi-governmental organizations with a Malthusian bent are all in fact slowly convincing the zombie population that their very existence as carbon based life is an affront to the earth and must be stopped or at least cramped into the primitive state of our cave-dwelling ancestors.
More disturbing or less – it's hard to say – the zombie population is also being taught that government is good, that government is always infinitely benevolent and always knows and means what is best for all. The result?
The government gains in power and authority over our lives one regulation at a time, and, since only the government can keep us all safe, they must be given greater and greater powers and eventually no longer be hampered by such unfortunate roadblocks to their activities as the judicial process and the Constitution.
Thus even if the mainstream news ever does get around to telling everyone that the Military Appropriations Bill S.1867 contains a clause that allows the armed forces to arrest and imprison anyone for life without a trial, this will undoubtedly sound eminently reasonable and very wise to the somnambulant population.
It is what Jefferson most feared with the advent of democracy – the tyranny of the many over the few. Now it is the tyranny of the many shuffling zombies over the few who are actually awake and, in the true sense of the word, actually alive.
